About us
A Charity to Help
Impact of PhysCap
Established in 1970, PhysCap is a Yorkshire based charity run completely by volunteers and we are dedicated to improving the quality of life for children with physical and learning disabilities. PhysCap provide financial support to families who may have limited funds to buy specialist equipment or therapeutic resources for their children, to help make their lives a little easier.
In the past, PhysCap have supported children with conditions such as Cerebral Palsy, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Downs Syndrome, Angelman’s Syndrome and Muscular Dystrophy. Community outreach is incredibly important to PhysCap, which is why we work very closely with therapists, hospitals, and local SEND schools. We have built a state-of-the-art sensory room, provided multi-sensory equipment, created an accessible school playground and funded a trip to a fully inclusive and adapted residential centre.
Promoting independence has always been important to PhysCap, which is why over the past 50 years we have provided countless families with equipment ranging from walking frames, specialist car seats, power wheelchairs and adapted trikes.
Inclusivity is at the heart of PhysCap which is why we have installed wheelchair accessible and inclusive playground equipment within our local area. Every child and family we meet leaves an imprint on PhysCap and over the years we have felt privileged to be a part of some incredible journeys. As a committee, we are dedicated to supporting children, young people, and their families to offer them “Big Help for Little People”.
